A Community-Driven Movement for Albuquerque
Imagine, ABQ is more than a name—it’s a transformative movement that embodies the spirit and dedication of Albuquerque residents committed to revitalizing their city. What began as a humble idea has blossomed into a significant community-driven effort with far-reaching impact.
What is Imagine, ABQ?
Imagine, ABQ is a community-driven movement aimed at transforming Albuquerque through volunteer efforts. Founded by passionate local residents, this initiative strives to restore the beauty and pride of our city. The movement has evolved into a citywide effort, with projects scheduled on the 3rd or 4th Saturday of each month. Our activities include neighborhood clean-ups, mural installations, and yard makeovers, all designed to bring people together and foster lasting change.
How We Started: Humble Beginnings to Citywide Impact
The vision for Imagine, ABQ was born from the dedication of David Meyers, a local Albuquerque Fire Department chaplain, and Larry “Lencho” Espinoza. They believed that a united community could bring about transformative change in Albuquerque. What started as a small, grassroots effort has since grown into a full-fledged movement supported by a dedicated team of 11 board members and recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
